To many processes running at the same time. Press Ctrl Alt Delete at the same time to pull up the Windows Task Manager. There are some processes you can probably do without. Do not end them till you do a little research first!!! Here is one of many sites to find out what each one is for. http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm
If you can't find it on here just use Yahoo or Google. Example: iexplore.exe its Internet explorer etc. Don't end svchost.exe or services.exe for sure those are needed. Just pick a process and see what is is and if it is important. If not right click it and end it. I'd write it down so if it acts funny you can start it back real quick under applications at the bottom click New task and type it back in exactly like it was.
If this does not have any effect you need to uninstall some programs that you don't ever use. Control panel add/remove programs, research them first!

The reason for most game crashes (freezing etc) is not having enough memory...the game eats all the memory up and there's not enough pagefile to keep it going either...so between the two the game freezes up.
Also, if your video card doesn't have that much on board memory then it has to rely on your Motherboards Memory sticks and the Pagefile...
Even it they say that 1gb of ram is enough, it's really not...you need 2gbs...
Try lowering the graphics setting some and see if that doesn't help...yea I know it doesn't look as good but at least you'll be able to play the game.
