Soon. They improved their defense so much with Nate Clements and Michael Lewis. Frank Gore and an improving Alex Smith should be able to put this team in the palyoffs this year. Then things can only get better.

With their new improvements on defense...they should take that remaining money, put it into getting Joey Porter and they will be contenders this season. They will get Dwayne Jarrett in the first round now that they got Franklin, and they will have 4 big targets to throw at(Leile, Jarrett, Battle, Davis) and along with Frank Gore, and that big OL, we are set. Get us Joey Porter, and we'll have a Superbowl ring.

*sniff* I'm so proud to hear that a lot of you think this way! I believe that the Niners can get to the big dance in the next 2 years! the additions to the defense was amazing! I dunno about adding Lelie in to the mix, but I hope they draft a good receiver like Jarrett or Ginn, Jr, I would hope for C. Johnson, but that's highly unlikely!

Ummmm...perhaps when the stars all realign so that they have a great team again? Montana/Rice and a whole slew of others that are all working together under a fatastic & brilliant coach (who's ahead of his time???) Umm yeah....that's when it'll happen again.....
Certainly the most honest answer to date...if not the "best" due to it's honesty.....
