The issue is generally not a time issue…it’s a grounds issue. In order to get an annulment, you have to meet the grounds for it. The grounds vary somewhat (although not much) by state, but if you’re thinking that you can get one based on short-term marriage (and you didn’t say that, but IF that’s the case)….you can’t. That’s not grounds for annulment in any state. Grounds for annulment generally include things such as the marriage not being legal to begin with (ie one party was already married to someone else) or the marriage being entered into under fraud or duress.
Now, all that is assuming that you live in the U.S. If you live in another country, then I don't have a clue.

I all depends on what State you live in. In California is hard to get an annulment. It is easier to get a divorce, which takes 6 months and 1 day. You should call the Superior Court in you county and ask the clerk what documents you will need to start a divorce.

he needs to check the laws of his state of residence for that info. It's anywhere from a few weeks to a year--the longer time period would depend on whether or not the marriage was consumated or not. edit: he must not be serious about getting out of the marriage then. $50 is pretty cheap for info expert info a procedure that could save him thousands. The longer he waits, the less likely he can get an annulment and the more likely he'll have to shell out for a divorce.

How long depends on your particular state. You have ot go through the court system for the annulment as well. Call your local Clerk of Court or family court official for more information

I thought annulments were through a church. State will give you a divorce but an annulment was having the church recognize that the marraige never happened.

Time has nothing to do with an annulment. But rather if the marriage has been consumated. In that case, go directly to divorce court. Do not pass go.
