How do you perform a reinstallation of Windows XP, sometimes called a repair installation?
Configure your computer to start from the CD-ROM drive. For more information about how to do this, refer to your computer's documentation or contact your computer manufacturer. Then insert your Windows XP Setup CD, and restart your computer.
1. When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.
2. Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.
3. Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.
4. In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.
5. Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.
6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

What do you mean by you erased XP home edition? If you have unintentionally deleted the system files, then all you have to do is just use re-install from the disks that came with the PC.

hi,
first, always have windows delete things for you, in add/delete programs, in your control panel.
ok, put your windows xp pro disk in the drive, reboot your computer, say yes to "boot from cd drive" then select reinstall windows, have your ID number of your operating system when prompted for it. watch that you reinstall only the operating system, or it will clean off your whole drive and then install windows. i hope this helped! :)

Hi. You will need an non-pirated version of whatever OS you want to install. If you have a legal WinXP PRO disk, then use that.

You should have some backup discs that came with the computer...or you had to make them yourself.....If you don't have these discs call the manufacturer of the computer to see how you can obtain a copy to restore your computer.
