Hi. Backup your files and then reformat the drive. Install Win XP and copy the files back. Did I mention backup?

First, back up all data that you want to keep. Burn it to a CD, DVD or to another HD. Place your win xp cd into tray reboot pc and it should boot from CD. Will go into your winxp setup. Choose install new by formatting the HD. Then follow all prompts. (VERY EASY) and you're done. Probably take about 30 mins or so.... It's very simple and easy. Good luck. Email if having probs!

Insert your windows xp cd and restart the computer
When your computer reboots it will regognize the xp cd as a boot disk and will ask you to press a key to boot from cd
Press enter to boot from cd
Follow the Instructions
Select fresh instalation of windows.
(I don't remember the exact steps but you will have to reformat the hard drive and have a clean install follow the instructions from the boot)

In the future, if you want to try out another OS, its always a good idea to put it on a seperate partition. That way, you still have your original OS, the computer will prompt you at startup to chose an OS. Also, if you ever want to delete it, you just delete, or format that partition, and you dont have to reformat your whole HD.

lots of people rip out Vista from their notebooks. regardless of the unique Gateway set up media you have a controversy. in case you will no longer be able to get an o.e.m set up you should alway replace drives interior the Gateway and "re"set up the Gateway XP. Then replace the drives back. ought to artwork, ought to no longer. Be interesting to attempt however.
