Why bother with an annulment? Just do a divorce. Easy and inexpensive. There are lots of books on the market describing the process, including some that are specific to the county (e.g., Santa Clara County).

The grounds for annulment (nullity of marriage) in CA include things such as: incest, bigamy, underage and married without parental consent, unsound mind (mentally unable to consent to the marriage), marriage was entered into under fraud or force, inability to consummate the marriage (which is a completely different thing that just not consummating the marriage).

If you don’t meet one of the grounds, then you’ll have to get a divorce.

In Cali. Divorce is a six month process.

You file papers, have them served on your spouse and wait six months.
Then you go to court and the deal is done. It costs around 200.00 or so.

When you hear on the news that a celebrity couple filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences" that is because the only two things you can choose as a reason for divorce, "I.R." and the other one. The other one requires proof, so everyone chooses "I.R."

Best result, don't hire lawyers. They will keep you fighting as all your money goes away, then you have to deal with her/him anyway. Split things friendly and once the divorce is final, hate them if that is your path.

You two hate each other, but you still will hate them after the lawyers make you two broke. Buy the book or rent it at the library.
