Hi. I am new to DVD burning. I just started three days ago and I have been using Nero 7 Ultra Edition. My OS is Windows XP Home Edition w/ Service Pack 2. I use a Sony DVD RW DW-D22A Drive to write my DVD-Rs. I have been trying to burn 13 avi files to a DVD-R but I always get this long error message by Nero Vision. I have read some guides on the internet and tried getting help but noone would help me. Do i need to convert the avi files or compress them or do i just keep trying to burn them to my disc which isn't working. My friend uses Nero to burn avi files on his DVD and it works for him.

Please someone help me.

Thanks in advance for ur time.

The once great Nero has pretty much turned into a bloated piece of buggy crap. I suggest getting sonic (roxio) products. Media creator 9 or something along those lines. If you don't mind to learn how to do some of the stuff manually, without do it for you software, go to doom9.net there you'll find guides and software to do anything you want to do with audio and video. Well, pretty much. By the time you learn the basics you'll be able to figure out how to do anything that's not there. By the way all the software you need is free. If you want to make dvd's from avi, i suggest just getting a mpeg2 encoder preferably one that will demux (separate the audio from the video) and encode to mpeg2. Then you load your audio and video files into IFO edit and author new dvd. Guides for IFO edit and a couple of different mpeg2 encoders are at doom9.net with the software.

i guess something wrong with your format or codec. is that file playing in your windows media player? if yes.. then you can burn dvd using nero burning. try to select different output folder..

or try using

Roxio MyDVD

what is that error messege exactly saying?

You need to post at least some part of the error message or no one will be able to help you.

download a new codec ,that may be the problem you may not have the most updated codec to support recoding your avi files i suggest the one i use k-lite full it works with just about anything here's a link http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/

AFAIK, you can't just select a bunch of files to make a watchable dvd. you can maybe select one long one, depending on the software.

these sites will have all the info you need on dvds and stuff:
