Older women who know if the girdles from the 50's were the reason for that exsquisite small waist larger hip

and bust ratio? I'm talking about the all-in-ones or high waist girdles. I love that look, but am wondering if only a girdle could pull it off? Or should I just go with a waist cincher. I don't want to be so confined to a corset as I have a toddler and infant to keep after. I also would prefer to wear the high waist as I am still breastfeeding. Do they work?? Thank you!

I ask of the girdles from the 50's because of the structure and material. If I'm going to wear a girdle, I'm not going to wear a thin one! I have already found three I'd like to purchase, but need more info before spending that kind of money on vintage.

Humm I was not born by then, but there is something called spanx that hold everything in and are stretchy. They do not have any boning or hard structure.
