Proactive will clear up the acne but you will have to use it forever. If you stop using it, the acne comes back. It is the same thing as Clearasil.

They both contain benzoyle peroxide that purifies your pores but also damages your skin causing premature wrinkles. There are lots better skin treatments out there. Murad, Philosophy, & Dr. Brandt

I admit that I am not the most qualified (since I don't use proactive), but I used to have pretty bad acne. Most creams dry your skin and irritate it, which causes acne to flourish. Once the cream gets working, though, it kills the bacteria that causes acne. Rarely will you find a medication for anything that works instantly. That first period isn't caused by proactive, but rather it is caused by a hostile ointment on the skin.

No actually it starts helping the skin immediatly. The plant extracts calm down the redness of the skin before the acne starts to heal.

You have to clean out your pores before you can begin healing your skin. All of the bacteria has to be cleared first, but then your skin can work on getting healthy.

this is more than likely because of the fact that your skin isnt used to the high concentration of chemicals in the medicine, and so it irritates your skin and bothers it
