Is women genital mutilation useful or harmful for human? As far as i know, it's a torture, no more useful and finally it's treat as a violation of women right. But recently i notice, some africans and others try to establish as if it's useful. Does anybody agree with it?

Unfortunately female circumcision is still practiced in some places of the world. There is also a practice in some African tribes of placing hot stones on a young girls chest to discourage breast development. The only excuse I have ever heard offered in it's defense was the belief that it ensured the woman was not tempted to be unfaithful to her future husband, or behave in any manner deemed immodest. While the people who practice this would argue it has a valid religious or cultural basis, I think it really continues due to a lack of education. There is no useful explaination that would support such a practice, and no need for it to continue. It does harm the woman, because it removes the clitoris, and thereby most of the pleasurable sensation she would enjoy from sexual contact. My personal opinion is that is reduces her to simply a container for producing children and maintaining a home without concern for her feelings. The procedure itself is dangerous, because it is done by untrained individuals in less than sanitary conditions. There is little care provided afterwards. The risk for death from bleeding and infection are great, and there is scarring for life- both physical and mental. I personally can't see any reason to condone the practice or allow it to continue. So no, I don't agree with it. But unfortunately those who do practice this barbaric custom do. We can only hope that education and pressure on the governments of these countries to eliminate the practices and to prosecute those who do it will eventually eliminate the practices completely.

Nope, there's no reason whatsoever it would be useful. The reasons circumcision (of men) can be beneficial don't apply. Circumcision removes the foreskin which is a breeding ground for pathogens, so circumcised men get fewer STDs on average... however since women have vaginas and get STDs through them, that doesn't apply. There is no other health benefit to any sort of circumcision.

Absolutly not. Its disgusting and completly wrong.
Extremely harmful, terrible torture and a complete violation to any humanbeing. I am ashamed that people are still doing this in this day and age. They should be shot!

the only kind of female circumcision that helps some women is the same as male circumcision and removes the clitoral hood.

its horrible. words can't explain how horrible it is.
those who defend it are mostly trying to say that their culture is not flawed and what they did, for the past god knows how many years, have been the right thing.

Honestly, why do you care? You aren't doing it. Stop judging people and their practices. They can lop off parts of their bodies if they want. >.>
