I understand your concern, as a father of 2 with 1 on the way...but I would not be at all concerned for the wellbeing of your unborn because your man smells of cigar smoke...Your baby is not at any risk.

However, once the baby is born, your man may want to consider having a "smoking jacket" for when he smokes, when he's done, leave the jacket outside, then wash his face and hands before handling the baby..These steps will allow your man to still enjoy his occasional smoke and leave you stress free as to the health of your baby...

Congrats and good luck!!

Second hand smoke is just as bad as smoking while pregnant. I do not think the smell of him afterwards could hurt the baby. If you're not comfortable with it, have him take a shower. Be sure to sit down with him and explain to him how you feel. When I was pregnant, I didn't want to be around it at all even if someone smelt like it. It gave me headaches and I wanted what's best for the baby. You know how mommies to be are, scared and concered for the unborn all the time. Never hurt to be safe! Congrats and good luck!

He needs to wash his hands, brush his teeth and use a over shirt or jacket while smoking outside only. (Taking the jacket off out side or on the porch will help you till he quits..) And to wear a condom while having sex.
I was high risk and my OB told this to my ex. He figured if he had to wear a condom even when I was pregnant he must stop smoking for good. He did by week 21.

If he still smokes after the birth then your going to have to watch out for ear infections and colds ...extra Test show that it stays in your curtains and carpets for years.

I am a smoker now. I feel so stupid. I am trying to quit. My son is 16 and I have smoked for few years, His health is not as good as my older two by far. He has ear infections, more sick days, so on. My other two did not. Not even half as much. We are talking 90% at least. That shows me I need to stop.

Good luck to your boyfriend on stopping i wish you both the best.

It won't hurt the baby now. But my daughter was premature and my husband smoked and the doctor told us that the smell of smoke on somebody like that can be bad for babies, especially premature babies and those with breathing problems. It makes it hard for them to breath and in some cases can cause an asthma attack.

The smell won't hurt the baby, but if you don't like the smell ask him to clean up before spending time with you.

No, a smell can't hurt your baby. It can make you feel sick though, so if it bothers you, ask him to splash on cologne after smoking or to change his shirt at the very least.

Your smelling cigars on him won't have any effect on your baby, it will just effect the way you feel about smelling it--if it makes you feel nauseous, ask if he can give them up, or shower and change his clothes before being around you.
