Modern birth-control pills are very low-dose and have very few side effects of any sort. As all pills contain either synthetic progesterone or a combination of estrogen and progesterone, they're all really the same except the dosage. Just ask for the lowest dose pill possible. Alesse is one for example. The less hormone, the fewer side-effects.

All birth control pills have the potential to cause weight gain (which is actually water, not fat). The average weight gain is about 5-10 pounds. The one pill that I did lose weight on was Yasmin but I didn't stick with it because I had problems when I first went on it. Because of those problems I determined that I would never take it again.

First all birth control pills make you gain weight. Second you should use a rubber instead because the pills have side effects and in the long run they will catch up to you.

Nearly all birth control pills carry the risk of either gaining or losing weight. It does depend also on your diet and how healthy you are. If you are an ideal weight now and regularly exercise then the risk of putting on weight will decrease. Ask your doctor for more questions.

It all depends. They affect women differently, some women won't experience any while others on the same pill will. I was on Ortho tricyclen Lo and I didn't experience any weight gain, but know women who did.

They all pretty much do that. It has to do with water weight gain. Watch your salt intake...especially mid month....not just what you add, but what you cook with, chips, fried, fast food, pickles, olives, ham, bacon, weiners, processed sandwich meat, catsup, ice cream...all heavy salted...and not always the kind of salt you can taste. Birth control pills have that as a natural side effect.
