I was under the impression that no one is perfect and that we are all created "equal". What, then, would give a human the right to judge other humans?

We all judge others. When you first meet someone you make an immediate, if unconscious, judgement on that person. It is human nature. Now the formal Judge is necessary. Someone has to determine what is done with people who commit murder, rape and other crimes. Someone has to determine if their is enough evidence to be assured to a certain standard that the accused actually committed the crime that they are accused of. What is the alternative? Anarchy? If their are no Judges, then we all become judges and Anarchy insues. Is this a better alternative? I think not.

A judge is not perfect. This is why we have a system of appeals courts in this nation, to appeal unjust decisions. The Supreme Court has nine judges, not just one. Most major criminal trials are decided by juries of twelve people, not a judge. Without this position, there would be NO justice in this country, except brutal take the law into your own hands street justice.
