Perhaps she's planning on dining in Palmdale, California.
Palmdale is a lovely place; it's my home town, though I haven't lived there since 1992. You should go see the California Poppy reserve this spring. It beautiful.

It's on the 14 fwy north of LA about an hour or so drive.
If you are planning on visiting there to see LA, it's not a good choice, it's too far.
