I have an Intel motherboard, and it cannot boot. It has 256MB of RAM (1 module), an Intel Celeron D processor at 2.53Ghz.The power supply is functional, I am actually using the RAM right now to test if it works, (obviously it does), The CMOS battery is fine, I tired the processor in another socket 478 mobo and it works. What is wrong?

Does the motherboard have any cracks anywhere or did you try to solder something and get some on the circuits?

Pull the cmos battery and the ram modules to reset the bios. Put em back and start up to command prompt. Run a scan disk (ex: C:\scndsk). If that doesn't work try downloading a boot disk on another computer. I can't remember the site, but there is a site you can download boot disks for about any os. Also Western Digital has a set of hard drive tools that fit on a floppy disk. They can help you figure out if you have a hard drive problem. If you have your OS install disk, just pop it in and see if you can boot up with it. You may just need to reinstall you OS.

first lets check if the motherboard works. when you turn on the computer the mother board should make a "beep" If it doesnt then that is a sure bet that it does not work.take it back where you got it from and get a new one. if it does make that beep then you should disconnect any modem you have connect (if any). many times a modem can cause your pc to malfunction.

Either the video card (assuming it has one), or the motherboard needs to be replaced, assuming your power supply is truly good.
