Kristallnacht (November 9–10, 1938) happened before WWII.

And it only affected Germany and parts of Austria. It was an internal Nazi operation (pogrom) against Jews. Stormtroopers and Nazi mobs attacked and looted Jewish-owned shops and homes. Some victims were beaten to death. 30,000 Jewish men were taken to concentration camps; and 1,668 synagogues were ransacked or set on fire.

The affect on German Jews was, of course, dreadful.

The affect in most countries outside Germany and Austria was to outrage public opinion against the Nazis. But that was all. No trade boycott or sanctions. The Nazis concluded that the rest of the world would not lift a finger to intervene if they continued and increased their persecution of the Jews.
