Hm. Well, not to generalize, but for girls, it's probably just a crush. Because crushes come and go literally in moments.

But for guys... it's probably either lust or love.

Questions to consider: how well do you know him? What, precisely, do you find attractive about him?

If you hardly ever talk to him, but simply admire him, then that might just be a like (like a crush) or just simple admiration.

If you hardly talk to him and just think he's uber-hot, then it's lust.

If he's all you can think about, and right away you can list 10 or more things about him that you like (including his various quirks and idiosyncracies) and bad habits that you find utterly adorable or tolerable... then it might be puppy love.

Personally, don't believe in teenage love. Relationships in high school pass within a matter of weeks. High school students label nearly every infatuation love-- but it most likely isn't.

But it seems, seeing as you've been into him for about 3 years or so, that you have real feelings for this young man. So go for it-- but just don't say the "l-word" just yet.

if you love someone. you'll know it. there isnt a "sign" to look for. there isnt someone you can ask. you just know it. its quite easy to distinguish true love and lust. if its love, you just wanna spend time with this person and you think about them all the time. as soon as you wake up and right before going to sleep. you want the world for this person, you want to call them back as soon as you hang up on them. you cant concentrate, every love song you hear she/he is on your mind.

With lust is not anything like that. with lust you just wanna basically bang that person. You can go for more than three hours not thinking about them. when you talk to them your just checking them out i.e her butt, boobs, legs etc. so to put it real simple it would be that if you love someone you hardly think about sex and if its lust sex is all you can think about.

If it's lust, you imagine yourself and him in bed with nothing on, and in a somewhat compromising position.

If it's love, you imagine yourself and him sitting around a Christmas trees as your children open their presents with huge smiles on their faces...or at least holding hands walking in the mall or something like that.

assume that your friend has gone to some other place for ever and you are not going to see him
If you Cry thinking about this then it is love
If you look for someone else then it is crush or lust

I think you have to first spend some time together and get to know him before you can fall in love. But you should go for it and see what happens.

Whether or not you would stretch your neck out in difficult times for that person without expectations of reward would certainly determine the seriousness of an attraction.

If you can reflect on your own feeling for the other... and.. place the feelings and welfare of the other completely above your own...to the point of giving your life for the other... with out getting "turned on"... then it is love.

you love the person if you can't stop thinking of them and want to spend every moment with them, and obviously care for them a great deal

If you don't know, it's not love yet.
