These are Nash's stats with Dallas:
2003--17.7 ppg, 7.7 apg, 41.3 three point % 46.5 FG%
2004-- 14.5 ppg, 8.8 apg, 40.5 three point % 47.0 FG%
With the Suns
2005--15.5 ppg. 11.5 apg, 43.1 three point % 50.2 FG%
2006-- 18.9 ppg, 10.5 apg, 43.9 three point % 51.2 FG%
This Year--19.1 ppg, 11.7 apg, 48.1 three point % 53.3 FG%
Well what do you know guys? Every part of Nash's stats shot up after joing the Suns. Like you guys say, there must be someone who's making Nash a better player on that team. Because Nash wasn't the player he was before joining the Suns. Nash never averaged a double double until he played with the Suns. So that means someone is making Nash better.....and I'll give that credit to Shawn Marion, because he's the only one on that team had the same numbers after Nash joined the Suns. In 2001 Marion averaged a double double (17.3 ppg & 10.7 rpg), in 2003 Marion was a all-star & in the playoffs, & in 2004 Marion averaged 19 ppg. He didn't get better but Nash did!

nash lives off his teamates and has more oportunities because the team forgets about defense and shoots every 7 seconds or faster on offense as part of their gameplan
when you shoot more your stats are going to go up because you are shooting more as a team and shooting directly after a pass so nash has more chances of getting assists
The better question is why did Dallas get so much better as soon as nash left?

Actually your stats are a little wrong. Shawn Marion did have a double double season in the 2000-01 season by averaging 17.3 ppg and 10.7 rbg but Marion did also average a double double when Steve Nash came to the Phoenix Suns check his stats in my source. Since the 2004-05 season, Shawn Marion has averaged a double double every season and even posted greater scoring averages too.
I disagree with your opinion. I dont think Shawn Marion has made Steve Nash better, I think the whole Phoenix cast has made him better. Plus the fact that he is now a veteran leader, in contrary of being part of the "Big Three" in Dallas teaming up with Michael Finley and Dirk Nowitzki. Besides those two, Steve Nash had no one to pass the ball to, even though they had a similar system running and gunning, he has a better supporting cast in Phoenix.
Phoenix : Raja Bell (he has more confidence than what he had in Dallas) and he is getting more playing time, Shawn Marion, athletic and one of the most underrated forwards, Amare Stoudamire, probably one of the best forward-centers, and very athletic and explosive to the rim , almost 40% of Steve Nash's assists are due to that big guy and the pick and roll they run in perfection. Boris Diaw, James Jones (Shooter), Leandro Barbosa, everyone, just compare the roster...
Steve Nash is putting MVP numbers due to his surrounding cast..

On 2005-06 season, Amare Stoudemire suffered a intense knee harm (that' s why Marion's stats took off), and Joe Johnson and Quentin Richardson have been traded away. The Suns weren't envisioned to repeat their efficient 2004-05 season, yet with Nash directing the comparable intense-pace offense, the team compiled a common rate fifty 4–28 record and gained the branch identify. The Suns have been back the utmost-scoring team interior the league with seven gamers averaging double figures in factors consistent with sport (as a results of fact of Nash's assists and performs), and Nash replaced into voted for the 1st time to start for the 2006 Western All-famous individual team. Having recorded occupation highs in factors (18.8), rebounds (4.2), field purpose share (.512) and unfastened-throw share (a league-splendid .921), and splendid the league with 10.5 ASSISTS consistent with sport, Nash replaced into named the league MVP for the 2d twelve months in a row.

Its the SYSTEM .
The system they have in Phoenix is built for a PG who can make decisions on the fly. Athletic players that can run, jump, and dunk. Nash just feeds them the ball and usually its going to be a dunk, open shot or Nash pulling up for a jumper or layup.
It requires a player of Nashs' basketball IQ and passing ability.
Dribble penetrate and let the defense decide for you where the ball is going. Its the basketball equivalent of football's wishbone.
In Dallas, they had great players but very low athleticism. For example, Dirk...awesome player, wicked shooter, not very athletic.

HIs numbers have gone up in Phoenix because he has the ball in his hands much more than in Dallas. In Dallas he didn't have the ball in his hands as much because he had two other players in Mike Finley and Dirk who could create their own offense. In phoenix he doesn't have that. Did you see Marion in the 05 Western Conference Finals? The closest thing he had to that in phoenix was Joe Johnson. He does have people who are uncany at making the correct reads off of penetration in Marion and Stoudemire, and then quality three point shooters. They have great offensive talent, but not one on one talent. In that system Nash starts everything pushes the pace while keeping turnovers down, and then in the half court he is able to constantly probe and allow everyone to make the correct reads off of his action. HIS NUMBERS HAVE GONE UP BECAUSE THE BALL IS IN HIS HANDS A LOT MORE THAN IN DALLAS!!!!!!

nash was a star with dallas...going to phoenix they had a stronger run and gun..nash is the same player as he was with dallas..now being the (leader of the team) his confidence is higher which is why his fg% is higher.great player..should have received credit when he was with dallas...and by the way he doesn't get the triple doubles like jason kidd...if kidd was with phoenix he would have a mvp.

u raise a good point....
i think its the different coaching styles. Don Nelson and Mike D'Antonio both approach the game differently and i think that with the Suns he has a lot more freedom on the court. because of this his numbers are different. in terms of assists, i think his numbers are up because he has the athletic players around him. if u compare his team mates in Dal and Pho, im sure u will agree that he has more athletic players with him now, players who will run and keep up with him....

i think its becasue of the fast break offense they play compliments nash's ability to run the court and make ridiculous passes, plus the supporting cast is a little bit better in phoenix i would say

Either Nash likes being with the Suns more, or they just pass him the ball more often... It could be alittle of both.
