How does a pendulum work exactly when it comes to matters of questions and answering? I have one and I have asked it a lot of yes and no questions and have found it to be surprisingly correct, which I find really freaky. How does this work?

The pendulum works by your subconscious mind. When you ask questions; your subconscious mind causes subtle muscle movements that you are unaware of that influences the movement of the pendulum.

Well, the boring scientific answer would suggest your muscles and environment are incapable of being perfectly still for more than a second or two, so you inadvertantly make it move and then remember when it works and forget or minimize when it fails.
Others would say you are tapping into your subconscious or a higher power that moves it in an acurate way, even though you cannot comprehend it.
And there are others still that say you call upon spirits that are either good guides or evil and leading you astray. Put a protective circle up if you are worried and up to that level.

Gravity. I could make all kinds of smart-Alec comments, but simply, the forces of gravitational pull, attraction, exerts 'pull' upon the weight tethered on the string. Because the weight has to travel along the arc of the string, trying to get closer to the earth, it builds momentum and swings past the earth at the bottom All of Newton's laws explain what happens to the weight and why it will eventually stop. Read about him.

Why do people ask How and why when something works? To ask is to set against it working. If it stops working, then you ask questions. Lay out a piece of natural wood without metal, stain, or paint. Mark it by carving. Then yes and no can expand.
