I think it's the 10 cent coin from Aruba and Netherland Antilles. The same kind of 10 cent used by Netherlands, but that Dutch coin is no longer in circulation. I don't have one in hand to measure, but it's not more than 15mm in diameter, possibly 12-13mm, and definitely smaller than a US dime.

I have seen or held a lot of small world coins. The Forent from Hungary is smaller than a dime, but I think the smallest coin I have seen and the smallest in my collection is the famous (Panama Pill) a 2 1/2 centesimo of 1904, it is around 10 mm and made of silver. I have handled some real small ancient Greek as well as Southeast Asian coins that were quote small also. I think the pill is either the smallest coin or sure is in the top runners.

10 cent coin from the Netherlands. Ever since the Euro came in its no longer in circulation, but it was tiny. About 5mm in diameter I think. Plus very thin (so not like the English pound or so). The article below has a picture and also says that the 'dubbeltje' as it is called was the smallest coin in ciruclation worldwide before the euro.

See picture in link of the size http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubbeltje

The smallest coin I've personally see is the one euro cent coin, only 16.25 mm in diameter. But I believe the Phillipine coin listed is smaller, 15.5 mm. I wasn't able to find the dimensions for the Aruban coin someone mentioned. The American dime is 17.91 mm in diameter.

the 5 centavos coin currently being used in the Philippines is the smallest i have seen. i don't have the exact measurement but it is about 8-10mm in diameter only!!! for a coin that small, it even has a hole in the middle. :)
