Dualisticly thinking they could be assigned as opposites and opposites are, when learned, paired together in the mind, e.g. black recalls white, down recalls up, north recalls south, right recalls left, etc.. Necessary conditions conceived as principles would be a natural opposite for contingent conditions; necessary or principle conditions being constant for an identity as contingents are random events for that identity, e.g. gravity is a principle in physical reality, but the differences for gravity for a thing and an other thing may serve as contingent condition for an event for an other thing.
