The Collective bargaining agreement states that players be paid on the 15th and 30th of every month, beginning at the Start of the NHL Regular Season, or The start of their reporting period, whichever is later.

However there are exceptions of course, that is the Standard Player Contract, but Salary can be deferred until the end of a contract, without or without interest paid on the owing balance. Their are also of course signing bonuses, performance bonuses etc.. which can be paid at sporadic intervals

There are also a lot of other payouts made, some of which are quite interesting. If a player is traded, the acquiring club can be expected to make rent or mortgage payments to 6 months for relocation. There are Per Diem amounts of $85 paid out when players arn't in the Home City.

I think the cutest contract clause is that teams agree to pay travel expenses up to $5,000 for Parents to see a player's first career NHL game.

Below is the link to the full CBA document, on page 244 is the actual Standard Player Contract. The payment schedule is on the first page.

weekly is the best I was paid biweekly once and the checks seemed too small for the amount of work it felt like I did. of course, now I'm salary so I might not mind bi-weekly at my current job, but we get paid weekly and I love knowing I can put money in the bank every Wednesday.

My friend is under contract with the kings but he plays in manchester. I believe he gets paid every two weeks. I can't speak to the question with much authority however.
