Your husband could be suffering from Musculoskeletal strain or Myofascial Pain syndrome brought about by vigorous activity such as weight lifting, lifting heavy loads, continuous stretching and the like. Usually, a muscle cramps occur when oxygen to your muscle depletes after strenous activity producing lactic acidosis resulting to pain and even inability to move. There are certain pain relievers depending upon the severity of pain and muscle relaxant which your husband can take. He may want to seek consult with Rehab Med. I also advised to have EMG-NCV to assess the function of his muscle. If it also possible to have a Physical Therapy session to relax his muscle.

It's ridiculous to live with this terrible condition. Your doctors are idiots. If you live near a reputable university or research hospital, make an appointment to see a specialist in or near that facility. Experts in helping your husband can be found at UCLA Medical Center, for instance. No one should have to endure this pain and discomfort. Get this poor brother some help.
