Boeing Co. Is actually a company that makes airplanes, actually more than that. There are many divisions including but not limited to BCA - Boeing Commercial Airlines (responsible for about 80% of the commercial planes you fly on including 737, 767, 777, 747, and soon 787), and IDS - Integrates Defense Systems. There area lot of divisions of Boeing Company. i think the best way you can describe what Boeing does is how my friend put it..pretty much if it is in the air and/or flies..you can bet Boeing had a hand in it..(unless of course it was built by airbus/lockheed/etc.)...Examples of what Boeing supplies: Commercial airplanes, sattelites, rockets, missles, helicopters, unmanned aircraft, I even heard a rumor that Boeing assisted in the design for Kirby vaccums (but that was a rumor). Expanding on another person's answer..about 8 months ago Boeing employed approx. 180,000 people...60,000 of them in the Seattle area alone..The everett plant has employed 6,000 new people this year alone.

Boeing is the biggest airplane manufacturer in the Us and supplies a ton of Jobs all over the country. They also make planes for the goverment and is one of the main reasons we got out of the depression, they needed planes for WWII. They are now making the 787 in Everett i think and thats going to be a big boost in the Seatle economy.

Boeing Aviation is the division that constructs commercial planes. Though that is there most famous product, they have built ships and hydro-foil boats which I've personally rode on in the past. They also have considerable government contracts to develop rockets systems, space probes, helicopters, and air defense systems.

Boeing as we all know manufacture aircraft. Several years ago they took over McDonnell Douglas and North American Rockwell. So they like to think of themselves as a company that makes things which fly. They manufacture not only aeroplanes, but helicopters, rockets, avionics, they are of course very active in the space program as well as military. I believe the Harrier Jump jet is still manufactured under licence in St. Louis as well as the F15 and F18 (I think). Their product range is just to large to list here and of course they build things which we know nothing about. They have installations all over the USA from Seattle to Kennedy space centre and most States in between. In the late 90s they employed approx 250,000 people.
