You've got to download a lot of things. Personally, I use Ipod, so this will go from .flv to .avi to .mp4. First, download VideoDownloader for Mozilla. Also download Riva FLV encoder. Find your video. Click on the VideoDownloader Icon in your Mozilla Firefox browser(in the bottom-right corner). Follow the instructions, and download the file in .FLV format. Then, run Riva FLV. Follow those instructions, but turn the end files name's last 3 letters(.flv) to (.avi). Then, with Videora Ipod Converter, run that program, and follow the instructions for .mp4

"I'm scary looking" gave the best answer - I went through this process myself last weekend.

Two modifications I would make are to use the All-in-One video download bookmarklet (http://1024k.de/bookmarklets/video-bookmarklets.html) which I found through Lifehacker since it handles just about every popular video site and doesn't make you install more software.

Second, even though I couldn't find it documented anywhere, Videora Ipod Converter can convert flv files to mp4 files for your ipod, so no reason to use Riva before running Videora if you're going to an ipod. When selecting the file to convert, just set the file type in the open dialog to "all files" and select the one you want to convert. Drag it into itunes, and sync. Works like a champ, and looks much better than youtube videos I've converted with Itube.

You'll need a program that would record streaming video. There r a bunch of them, its just trying to figure out which one works best for you. You would just have to copy and paste the address of the YouTube video into the software and it will go through the conversion process.
