Im looking at buying a new drum set. Im looking at either a Mapex M Birch or a Pearl Export. What do you guys like better? Let me know what you think of both companies.

Hello,

Before I took a look into my Interstate Music catalog I picked your first choice, Mapex M Birch over the Export kit.

On page 205: "The best deal in Birch Drums keeps getting better. When Mapex introduced the M Birch Series, and it's 6 for 5 special, it instantly became a best seller. Theis year, the deal has been sweetened, in 2006, when you purchase any 5 or 5 piece M Birch set, Mapex will give you an extra tom, absolutely FREE."
"That's right, buy a 6 piece and get the 7th tom free. Buy a 5 piece and get the 6th piece free. The free tom includes mounting hardware at no extra charge."

The Black Forest Cherry is my choice of colors, but that's just me. Good luck fellow drummer.

If thse are your choices, definately go with the Mapex set.

Here's why: They are made of birch and the Exports are made of Poplar a much less desirable wood.

Pearl makes good drums, but so does Mapex. I have a set of Mapex Pro M's and they the best drums I've ever owned (I've owned Tama, Pearl and Ludwig).

The M-Birch are put together the same way as the Pro-M's so I know they're quality. The hardware is top-notch too.

The pros almost all play Birch or Maple (sometimes exotics such as Bubinga or African Mahogany). You will rarely see them use Poplar or other lesser woods such as Basswood or Philipine Mahogany.

If thse are your possibilities, definately bypass with the Mapex set. right here is why: they are made up of birch and the Exports are made up of Poplar a miles less perfect wood. Pearl makes good drums, yet so does Mapex. I also have a sequence of Mapex professional M's and that they the appropriate drums i've got ever owned (i've got owned Tama, Pearl and Ludwig). The M-Birch are prepare the comparable way because of the fact the pro-M's so i be responsive to they are high quality. The hardware is real-notch too. the pros exceedingly much all play Birch or Maple (now and back exotics alongside with Bubinga or African Mahogany). you will infrequently see them use Poplar or different lesser woods alongside with Basswood or Philipine Mahogany.
