Not every piece you write has to be super emotional, just write what you see and what you feel about it. When you can do that, you can delve into your emotions and write some deeper poetry. Start keeping an inspiration journal: whenever you feel something or see something you like, write it down just as you experience it. You can keep little doodles along with your poetry or thoughts (if that's your kind of thing) to help you discribe it. Whatever helps you express yourself the best. Keep everything you write together (and I mean everything, the stuff you hate and the stuff you like, they can both help you later on when you're drafting something deeper), and when you really are feeling poetically inclined, open up your old stuff and compile what you like into one bigger poem or writing. Also, if you have trouble figuring out what you even want to write about or if you even want to write at all, just open to a blank page in your inspiration journal and start writing continuously for five minuites or so. Just whatever comes to mind. (Mine usually include things like how much I hate the color of the walls or what I wish I were doing at that moment or even corny jokes or bits of conversation I was hearing right then, nothing seriously poetic) and save it and read over it occasionally for some thoughts. Doing small things like that can really help you write later because you'll have ideas to base your writing off of and some work on what you like and what you dislike. Good luck!

boy that's right up my alley- I went through almost death situation and for years I wrote song after song and some became very well known in our area. It seemed like God was filling me up so fast I couldn't even sleep without waking up and having to get a pen to jot it quickly down. I would even have the music to and I would quickly get my guitar and record the music so I wouldn't forget it. I don't suggest a near death situation but I'm kinda in a slump myself right now, but mostly due to different situations going on in my life.I go now to places that inspire me the most which the beach is one. Thankfully I live 3-miles from it so I get a lot of inspiration just starring out at the vast amazement of it's magnificent creation. I suggest go to places or meditate on and where you find the most solace.or melancholic drama. A writer or song writers have to have different ways to inspire us some may even think we are strange.LoL...

Nature...other people...things you have been through....I have a friend and I didnt think I could write poetry until I met him and I had totally given up writing but when I met him I found that I could actually write poetry and I even started writing a book. If it wasnt for him I wouldnt be writing at all.

Try some quiet meditation. Clear your mind of anything negative and picture pure bliss and serenity. Then hold the pen and paper and the words will just come naturally.

Look within. The reason you wrote such profound poetry was that you had something to say, to speak about your pain. You can do this without the hurt, just look within. Its there.

I do not mean to be rude at all- but I used to watch the Anna Nicole smith show, I found inspiration out of her silliness, I loved her attitude, and her willingness to let herself out there, and not be shameful. I LOVE that show, I don't know why they took it off air- if they make a box collection I WILL buy it.

I find inspiration in the people and things that I choose to have around me. My best friend is my biggest inspiration, without her I don't know where I would be.
