I don't know if there's a rule for this, and i doubt there's a 30 day notice. i think as long as you're over 18, there's nothing you can do but try to apologize to your parents...
and the same thing almost happened to be, and I tried to find a place and paid the rent already, and then my mom tells me that she'll give me another chance, so the landlord kept $100 for renting the place to me for just 4-5 hours without me even moving anything in. and there's not much I can do because he wrote it in the contract if I rented for less than 6 monthes, then he can keep all of it if he wanted to. My only hopes is that the place is a basement and I just heard that a basement without a fire escape is illegal to rent (although there is a fire extinguisher).
Just be careful the kind of place you try to rent...

Not only do they have to give you a 30 day notice, they have to follow the same rules that any other tenant landlord have to follow. Don't let anyone tell you that they can just put you out. If the police are called they can not put you out if it has been your residence for the last several months or years. Because you are their child it does not give them the right to supersede the landlord tenant rights of your state. Having sail that try to talk to them to get more time you will need them again one day. Good luck

If you pay rent or have "legal standing" there, meaning that you have a room, receive mail, and all in all live there, then you do have a right to a 30 day eviction notice. Unfortunately they can by-pass that by simply getting a restraining order on you. My advice is to talk to them and apologize. I know how it is, but sometimes you just have to suck it up. If you want to be independent then strive to be that. Maybe you could talk to them about allowing you to prepare to move out and save a little money so that you can make it on your own instead of knocking on their door again in six months. Good luck!!!

My guess is you have pushed them to the limit....if you can't move by this weekend, ask them for an extension, I wouldn't pull the 30 day thing that will just piss them off! In that time look for a new place to live, but keep in mind it would be a lot easier to follow your parents rules and make amends with them then to support yourself...it's tough out here! Try to fix your relationship with your folks.....you'll thank me later...trust me...been there done that...not fun!

I don't think so.
Unless of course you pay rent.
P.S. sorry, I know your question wasn't about your rule breaking, but, I have to say, you really don't need to get booted out. What you say is a minor rule, is important to your parents that you respect it.
Com'on, it's worth the roof over your head. Weigh the odds of you breaking a rule and having a roof over your head.
Go and say your sorry, and you understand there rule and that you were foolish not to take it more seriously.

A question like this really won't get a truly accurate response. Most of the people answering these questions are not attorneys. Even if they were, they is no way to know from your question what state you are in. The laws of one state might not reflect the laws of another, so you question should really be directed to a local attorney.

I do not believe that they are legally required to give you a 30-day notice unless you have a rental agreement with them. If you pay no rent, there is no agreement.

No. Parents don't kick their kids out for minor rules. WHat did you do?

How old are you, and what did you do? And, I don't think they have to give you a 30 day notice if you never signed a contract. But that's just me.
