I just started playing WoW, and can't really decide which character i want to level. I've tried a rogue, hunter, and priest. What is the best, most fun, effective class of WoW? and i was wondering which faction should i choose from? thanks

There isn't a "best" class. If there was, everyone would play it.

The races on the other hand...the Burning Crusade races (Dranaei and Blood Elves) have insane racial abilities. If you're on a PvP realm and don't care about skins, I highly recommend rolling on of those two races.

Let me give you a quick rundown of each of the classes, and keep in mind: there is no best class!

Hunter- IMHO, easiest class to play out there. You shoot stuff with a gun, you get cool looking pets, your gear looks decent. And there are so many of you you might have hard time getting people to work with you.

Warlock- Trickery class. You get different minions, each one with a specific role in mind. If you match the pet with the application, you're invincible. You screw up, you're dead or seriously in trouble.

Rogue- Second most common class, only behind hunters. Sneaking little class. Deals loads of damage. And, as one person put it, a rogue needs four buttons, the class is a little tedious/boring later on.

Warrior- "Holy crap, here comes a plate wearing, sword toting thing. Let's all attack it!" That's a warrior's job. He holds the enemy's attention for the other people to be free to do what needs doing. He's got the most boring job outside of a group, but in a group he's the natural leader.

Druid- Shape-shifting is key here. A Druid is one of the strongest healing classes in the game or one of the best damage classes in the game or one of the sturdiest tanks in the game. But they're never all three at once. A druid is a specialist, but you decide where to specialize later.

Priest- The best healers in the game. Period. But if something hits them they go down like a sack of barley. Tricky class. I don't recommend it to beginners.

Mage- Cloth class, just as fragile as the priest, but they shoot things very, very hard. A mage wins by killing something before the something reaches him.

Paladin- Sturdy class, heals, but poorly; deals little damage. These things are surivival kings and do well in groups, but they're not so fun IMO to play solo.

Shamans- Softer class, heals reasonably; deals some damage if you set things up right. A distinct tempo from the the rest of the game, fun to play solo, not so fun in a group.

I personally think that druids are pretty damn fun. I am a human paladin level 68 and love it. But it just seems like they are not the most useful they are great for raids though. I also have a high level hunter but maybe its just me but hunters seem kinda boring. Rogues are very fun when it comes to pvp. You can sneak up on anyone and pwn them for sure with rogues. Priests and warriors of course are always needed just because for instances they are the basics. Ohh yes and Shaman my shaman is pretty low level but seems fun. I don't really know alot about shamans so better to let someone else tell you about them.

i don't know, it's like asking what's the best hobby for someone.

rogues can do pretty big damage, and with stealth you can do evil stuff like camping players or surprise attacks

hunters you can kite the !@#$ out of someone

and for priests, finding a group is a piece of cake, and shadow priests are fun in PvP

The choices is really up to you my friend. Maybe try a human paladin from the alliance or Dwarf hunter from the alliance or try The Forsaken (Undead) warlock from the Horde.

Anyway it's up to you.
