I'm 13, and am in the 7th grade. I just don't know how to stop procrastinating!
My usual homework:
Math- between 20 and 40 problems
Language Arts/English- A chapter a night, answer 6 or less questions and less than 10 vocab words
Social Studies- mostly projects ( have two going on right now), tests every week, workbook pages (1-4), read chapter (15 or less pages)
Science- usually take notes on chapters about 20-30 pgs long, and quizzes
Spanish- usually projects and text book or work book pages
Religion (I go to a Catholic School)- Rarely a chapter to read and 5 questions
How do I stop waiting until the last minute to get things done? I get home around 4:45, and I am really hungry when I come home, so I eat and watch TV until like....5:30. Then shower until 6:00. That only gives me 3-4 hours to do all of that. I would stay up later, but my parents say I should go to bed before 11:00pm, and leave an hour or so for "me time", or else I'll get stressed.
What should I DO?????

Best thing to do is this...
When you first get home at 4:45, eat something (so you can have energy). Give yourself a 1/2 hour nap...or just veg out on your bed without talking to anyone.
Then, wake up nice and slowly, and don't watch t.v. or call your friends (cuz this will stress you out).
By about 5:30, you should be ready and committed to doing your work. Use a checklist, and check off every assignment you finish, until you are done.
I'll bet you could have all of this done by 7:30/8:00, and then just hang out and reward yourself with a snack and t.v.
You can take your showers in the morning! :-) Besides, it is so refreshing to take a shower in the a.m.
P.S. Just wondering...why do you get home at 4:45 and not earlier? Do you have extra-curricular activities after school, that prevent you from coming home earlier?
P.P.S. Talk to your guidance counselor. That sounds like A LOT of homework...or at least a lot more than I ever remember having. Ask if you can lighten your courseload, by having less classes (maybe throw an art class or music class...something fun...in there for your soul!) I dunno. It just sounds like you are really burning the candle at both ends...sounds like you have anxiety about it (which I don't blame you).
I'd like to see you have less stress, and more fun. Don't get me wrong...Yes you have to do your work. BUT...talk to your guidance counselor for sure. Let him or her know that you feel stressed, and that you wish you could have LESS courses.
Life is supposed to be fun, not stressful. Yes, in reality, stress exists, but you should be having MORE fun and relaxation while you are being responsible and doing your work too. This means, cut your course load and you'll be so much happier and less anxious.
Best of luck, my friend.

If you have study hall at school do as much as you can there if not get your snack when you get home and hit the books till you’re done. Do the easy ones first courses first, if you haven’t finished by 9:30pm then stop, take a shower and be in bed by 10:00pm. Get up at 5:30am and finish what need to be done. Don't worry about your personal free time yet, as you get into this routine you will learn how to be better organized and you will soon find that it doesn’t take as long to do home work. It works.

The payoff you get carry of for procrastinating is maximum in all hazard explanation why you finally end up repeating the development. Procrastinators placed off projects till the very final a hazard 2d because of the fact, at that l a s t 2d, there's a burst of potential from adrenaline and neurotransmitters released according to the intense rigidity the thoughts is under. Procrastinators get a organic intense, a organic euphoria, by skill of waiting till there is not greater time to anticipate polishing off the job, if he/she needs to prevail. Many procrastinators are user-friendly for asserting, "I do my appropriate artwork under pressure." it rather is definitely no longer the certainty, even nevertheless it justifies the waiting as a value reason. the undeniable fact which you're feeling so drained and could quite no longer do the artwork stunning away is yet another factor. in case you're drained constantly, it rather is which you unknowingly watch for the push on the final minute for the reason which you desire a advance out of the common daily fatigue. i've got found out the stressful way that early and stable coaching certainly prevents the daily fatigue to 3 volume....i'm getting a "2d wind," a sparkling burst of potential because of the fact i'm tackling something it rather is stressful and that i be responsive to i'm going to triumph over the job. Now THAT brings an extremely good feeling....and it rather is plenty greater advantageous than the final-minute under pressure-out potential carry and next potential crash. (ok, Saccade, be marvelous!) Consistency is what your physique needs, what your thoughts needs, and what you as a guy or woman could desire to locate get away from the ever-present day psychological fatigue.

Hey! You're exactly like me! I stay up till 1 in the morning doing homework because of procrastination. I'm in the 7th grade too. I suggest that you should move your TV into the bathroom then eat and take a shower there WHILE watching TV. Genius, no?
I guess you should start the habit of wearing a watch and setting the alarm to ring every 15 minutes or something. Pinch yourself or something.

ok well when you get home, take a little while to unwind after school. then set up a time strictly for homework. do half of the homework at 5 and then eat and take your shower, then after, finish the other half of your homework. you will feel less overwhelmed and you will find that you can concentrate better when you are less stressed. good luck!

Well the tv watching should be during your hour of "me" time..... so I say go home and eat your snack while doing your homework first thing, then shower, and then watch tv and go to bed.

Get your priorities straght. If school work is getting put off then make it your number 1 priority. Then you will make time for eating and showering for sure. It's as simple as that.

the moment you get home, go straight to your room and do your homework.if you think about games, while doing H.W., slap yourself and focus on your work.only when you finish, then come out to play.
By the way, they do put you under a lot of stress.
