Taking nothing away from Memphis, as they are a hot team, but how are they ranked 5? Two of their three losses happened to be from two of only three ranked teams they've played this year. They could potentially be a 1 seed in the NCAA torunament and if so they could be the first #1 seed in history to lose to a 16 seed. They took their 3rd loss to a Tennessee who is tied for 5th... in the SEC! I wish 'em the best and maybe they'll prove me wrong, but I have a feeling when they cross the street and play with the big boys... they'll go down in flames.

Because they dominated their conference going 16-0. They're also 7th in the RPI. I don't see them being a #1 seed though with the likes of Ohio State, Wisconsin, UCLA, Kansas, Florida, and UNCA. Plus if Kansas doesn't get the 4th #1 seed, Florida would get the #1 seed over Memphis because of the RPI of their conference and Florida has high quality wins over Ohio State, . Plus it's possibly Memphis could get upset in the C-USA tourney. Right now Bracketology has Memphis as a #3 seed.

Memphis will win probably two games and then end up drawing a Butler, Duke, Marquette. I say their road will end there.

Oh and by the way, Tennessee is 3rd in the SEC behind Vanderbilt and Florida. They're #22 in the nation in the AP. They're also 8th in the RPI.They are one of the hottest teams right now with a healthy Chris Lofton, in one of the top conferences in the nation. Needless to say the voters count that as a quality win.

People said they would be the first 1 seed to lose to a 16 seed last year. Memphis will never get respect because they play in a conference not named the SEC, ACC, or Big East. They can't help that everyone else in their conference sucks but they took care of business by going undefeated in Conference USA. As long as you keep winning you move up in the polls. It doesn't matter who you beat.

i disagree, i think their athleticism and versatility allows them to play with any team in the country...they have guards that can run and shoot but also drive the lane, and they have big guys who can step out and shoot the triple...i know that when faced with good teams they have struggled but they will be a force to be reckoned with come tournament time because they can match up with anybody
