In case you do not have Control Panel on your Start Menu, click on Start | Run | in the Open box type Control Panel and click OK. From the Control Panel, go to Sounds and Audio Devices. The volume tab comes up by default; check the box that says Place Volume Icon in the Taskbar, then click OK.
