What does it mean to be a prep? If I wear Abercrombie, AE, or Hollister does that mean that I should be considered preppy? Is preppy even a good thing?

you are preppy if you care about wearig the right clothes and fashion is your world lol
preps wear A&F, hollister, AE but they can wear designers and still be considered preppy. but i think the true preps wear ralph lauren, j. crew, and lacoste. but A&F people consider themselves preppy
When your a prep, i think the signature for prep is a polo. If you are in ove with polo shirts then your a prep haha
a lot of preps love the color pink, cashmere sweaters, argyle sweaters. stuff like that
its really hard to define prep. you just kind of are one. lol
and being a prep isn't a bad thing at all. i'm one lol

A true prep is someone who goes to a private school and the wear clothes that are not flashy. A prep will usually wear a polo shirt and khakis. Polo shirts worn by preps are lacoste, lilly pulitzer, ralph lauren, etc. Preppy clothing is not ae, hollister or abercrombie, people will consider you preppy if you wear that and they themselves are not true preps. I am a prep, actually im wearing my green lacoste as i write this lol, and i consider it a good thing. I am not one to cut my wrists thats bad preppy is good lol

Preppy is looked up in the dictionary as a person who enjoys wearing fashionable clothing (my friends and i did this to a girl who was calling us preps). So yah, it is a good thing to be a prep. And yes, you should be considered preppy! I do for myself!

Preppy is a stereo type blond personality. Something like Reese Witherspoon play in Legaly Blond. That is the epidamy of preppydom

preppy is just another stereoy type. a prep is typically a goody-goody, and follows all the rules and gets good grades. their all hardcore about school dances and school teams and stuff liek that. and yea, AE< holister and all those other stores u mentioned are soem MAJOR prep stores. theres nothing WRONG with being a prep. its jsut stereotyping. and dont let peopel label you. its not cool.

"Prep" is a label, and its not bad, I would define it literally as someone who wore j. crew, or joined a sorority at Harvard...do you get it? Its kinda like the people who tie their sweaters around their neck and wear loafers...you could be "mildly preppy" and wear polo shirts or striped button-up shirts from those stores (i do)...its kinda like being stereotyped (ex. jocks, nerds, emos, etc.) sometimes people use the term "prep" for the popular, pretty girls at school.

idc about stero types, ppl wear what they like and it's a way of expressing themselves. but to answer your question, it is a good thing because you should do things the way you like and not how people tell you to dress (i.e. celebrities.)
