I have some Uncirculated Banknotes that I need to mail.

I don't have the proper Banknote holders for placing the Banknotes into, but was wondering if I could substitute Waxed Paper for mailing the Banknotes.

Serious, knowledgeable answers are appreciated.

I would not use wax paper on currency. If it is only going to be in the envelope until it reaches it's destination, then putting it between two pieces of cardboard and putting it in an envelope will do. You don't want the bill to get a fold mark and clean cardboard is ok. Paper or cardboard is only bad, if left in it for a long time due to it's acid. You can get acid free card stock that is used in scrap booking and greeting card making and use that. That would be safe forever, in case the bills are left in the envelope for a long time.

Banknotes don't require wax paper to mail. Only products that have an adhesive on them such as postage stamps.

I would use a envelope like you mail photograpghs in.

I just mail them in photomailers. The stiff envelopes seem to work good, dont know about wax paper but I wouldnt want any residue to get on the notes so I probably wouldnt use that.
