it's been his "trade mark" of his since the early 70's as the best dirtiest player in the game. that's one of the reasons that he is one of the BEST heels ever!!!!!!

In the days of old school professional wrestling a thumb to the eye was considered extremely dirty, as dirty as a low blow or a chairshot is today. It was a HUGE deal back then. It became his trademark tactic along with low blows and chop blocks which he uses in all of his matches today. His nickname is "The Dirtiest Player In the Game" because of all these manuevers. It's become a signature move for him, just like every wrestler has something that is his or her own.
