Virtual strip searches? Necessary inconvenience or a complete violation?

2007-03-05 14:17:19 · 10 answers · asked by Anonymous in Politics & Government Law & Ethics

Yes, I did read the entire article. I understand that at this time the scans are voluntary, but I believe it's only a matter of time before they are the norm in every airport. I should have clarified my thoughts prior to posting my question.

I am actually 100% in favor of these devices for a number of reasons, but I wanted to hear others thoughts. Thank you for responding.

The state has the right to conduct searches for passengers in order to protect the aviation industry from terrorists. It is a valid exercise of the police power of the state.

An unfortunate sign of the times, you have to examine it usage. I assume this examination is to replace a different type of search. I would rather have no searches but I am willing to face some hassle to make terrorism that much more difficult.

If you read the complete information on this process, you will see it is VOLUNTARY. If you have an objection to being scanned, they will check you out by the current means of a pat-down.

Nobody is going to violate your rights.

Its only voluntary right now.
Id rather have a virtual strip search than an actual strip search though.

That would be a big NO! since going through it is voluntary. Of course, you didn't read that part, did you?
