Make a home video showing all around your home and different friends and family members on there. Have yourself on there just talking to them etc. Kind've like recording your life to show them, around town etc. It's the small everyday things in your life that you share with people that keep you close.

I have a friend who goes to my school here in Florida, her entire family lives in Seattle, almost as far away as can be while remaining in the continental US. She keeps in touch with her sister by making little cards and mailing them to her with letters inside, her sister makes reply cards also. Some of them are really cute/funny.
You could also try, like many have mentioned, web-cam conversations. Skype is a really good program, it works like a phone basically, and you can even buy skype credits to call someone on their actual phone with it. If the other person has skype, though, you can chat for free with video or voice o text.
Good luck with it. Living so far from your family must be hard, but it's good that you're trying to keep in touch :)

You could use e-mail. or snail mail lol..slow but it means so much more because you are writing the letter yourself and taking your time. Phone works too. and also..getting online and using cams..its fun!
