Why is everyone so obsessed with getting famous?!? I just don't get it. I mean some people have that natural talent, but now everyone is convinced that they've got what it takes to make it in the world of fame.
If anyone watched Jay Leno, the the other night, Jim Carrey was on. And he said that with this crazy fad, soon everyone would be famous, and he'd retire, and be the only audience member.
I understand his point. People are doing retarded things, just to be noticed , and get the fame they long for. But why can't people just realize that it is a lot more work being famous than they say?
The constant press, and paparazzi has got to get old.
So, I want you to tell me why you agree or disagree with my point. I bet that if you disagree, you are one of those hopefuls, who wants to be a huge star, huh? No offense.

People tend to seek fame in order to validate themselves. For some, this simply means provinng that they're the best at something... pro athletes, for instance. For others, it goes much deeper. It can be a way of expressing a need for acceptance. This is why people who are truly obsessive about fame (but not about the work-a-day side of it) are usually the product of a neglectful or exploitive household. When a child grows up with a lack of acceptance, he or she will often turn to other sources of attention; for many, this manifests itself as a desire to be noticed on a grand scale.
The key is to separate those who are truly talented and obsessed with performance, from those who simply seek a spotlight for their insecurities.

When I was watching the Oscars a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon the very same point. I saw all the "famous" people sitting in the audience, most of which I'd never even heard of, and wondered to myself, "Is THIS what we live for? To entertain, to be entertained? To make money? To be, in essence, famous or infamous?" After much debate, I answered my own question. No; being famous, I think, is not natural, not normal. It's something that only a select group of people were born to do; think about it. If everyone were famous, then no one would truly be famous.
I don't think that EVERYONE wants to be famous, though. I used to be, but after thinking about it, I decided I would rather get a huge satisfaction in my life from helping people than from entertaining them.

Honestly, how many famous people are talented? Not as many as one would hope.
I think we have become obsessed with fame & stars - and I think it's ridiculous. Who cares what Paris Hilton thinks about Global Warming? Like people admire her . . . BRAIN? I don't think so.
I think that fame & entertainment have taken the place of spirituality (of whatever kind) in our society - and it's a REAL problem. There is no substance.
So - stars are behaving badly - which makes the news (as if it were real news!) and regular people imitate them - and they have their 15 minutes of fame. And it all goes so fast and we are so buried in this - that it's hard to realize this poop doesn't mean a thing.

While on the surface, it appears that everyone wants to be famous. I believe everyone wants what comes with being famous--BEING RICH. Still others, seek some of a higher cause making their mark on the world, leaving a legacy. I think that's what most of us want to do something that gives life purpose and makes it more meaningful and worthwhile. But certainly, it'd be nice to make some money along the way. That's my two cents.

I agree. But to some people Fame is the answer to all their problems what they don't realize is that it bring a whole new set of problems but try and explain this to Jane who is 30 years old living in a caravan with her cats who's friend just lied and told her she was a great singer.

I'm not all that different from anyone else, and I don't want to be famous, or infamous. Be careful when you use generalisations.
If your gonna say "everyone", you should ask everyone. It's only fair.
