Bless your heart. The first time it usually lasts 2-4 days. After that it may be 2 or 3 or even 6 months before you have another one. After the first two or three, you should have one every 4 weeks and they last 2-5 days. Good luck, my mom was like that, too.

Your cycle could last anywhere from 3-7 days with an average time of 5 days. Because it is your first period do not be surprised if you have spotting in between cycles. Your period should come approximately every 28 days, but this varies depending on the woman. You would do best to track it on a calendar so you always are prepared with something when it is due to arrive. Also, you may want to tell your Mom, you would be surprised, but we've all been there and know it is embarrasing and difficult she can really help you through some of this.

Generally a period lasts between 3 and 7 days. It can vary some from period to period and from person to person. When a girl first has her period it is less likely to be "regular" as far as how many days you will have your period and the number of days between periods. For some it can take a while to become "regular."
As a mom of a 13 year old daughter I would suggest that you talk to mom. I know it can be weird. It's weird for mom too at first. If you really really can't talk to your mom, perhaps an older sister, aunt, even a grandmother. If not maybe a really good friends mom would be more comfortable. If you can't talk to any you could talk to your school nurse, your doctor, or even call an Ask A Nurse hotline you feel you need to talk to someone. These can be found in your local phone book or even on your local hospitals website in many cases.
Note: If you choose to use tampons instead of pads, please be sure you really read the information provided and change very frequently, there are some health risks with having a tampon in place for longer times.
If you are experiencing cramping, nausea, etc. your mom could really help you with this.
Remember your mom was 13 years old once too. She had her first period experience too. She had questions too, just like you. This is one time when she really has been through exactly what you are going through.
Hope some of this information helps.

Menarche is a girl's first menstrual cycle. A first period usually happens after several years of pubic hair growth, breast development, and rapid growth known as a "growth spurt." Menarche most commonly happens sometime between ages 11 and 14.7
The first menstrual cycles are usually light and unpredictable. During the first 2 years, a typical teenage menstrual cycle can be anywhere from 21 to 42 days long. About 2 out of 3 girls have a regular pattern of menstrual periods within 2 years of menarche.5
Long, heavy periods are fairly common during the teen years. The hormone (endocrine) system is still maturing, and progesterone levels aren't always high enough during regular cycles to help the uterine lining (endometrium) break down. When the endometrium has built up for too long, heavy menstrual bleeding follows. This type of bleeding usually gets better on its own, without treatment. However, see a health professional for menstrual bleeding that lasts longer than 7 days or for cycles that are shorter than 21 days or longer than 42 days. For more information, see the topic Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding.

Sweety, it is usually 5-7 days with it gradually getting heavier toward the middle of those days and then getting lighter toward the end. You will learn after a few months what your normal cycle is. Make sure you keep yourself very clean and take a bath or shower daily. This keeps you from having the "Period" smell.
If you have the cramps you can take Ibuprophen and it works well. Use a heating pad at night for discomfort on low. Congratulations, you are officially a young woman.

It depends. Sometimes beginners can be very short lasting 3 to 4 days. And others last up to 8. It just depends on your body. But I do have a tip. If you think your period has ended because there was no discharge or anything for day or night or so, don't be so sure. Because sometimes it isn't fully over. Wear a panty liner or thin pad just incase. Congrats on becoming a woman!

Well. If you are just starting it, it might last a number of days. The broad range of days it could be 3-10 days. But it normally lasts 5-7. Since its your first period you might want to know a few things. First i would mark it on your calender, if you dont want to write like "period" or anything you could take a red marker and just put a dot on the date. Second start yourself out on pads, i would buy a variety of different strengths of pads. You dont know what your flow is going to be like. If you are very athletic then you might want to go onto tampons and try Tampax Sport or something but i would suggest pads first, you arent ready for tampons. Also your mom will probably find out so it is better if you just go to her (i know you will be nervous i was too) and say "Mom i started my period, im fully informed and i dont want to talk about it. Please respect that." and your mother probably will. When you want to talk to her she will be willing. Make sure you change out your pad every 6-8 hours (depending) and a tampon the same.
I really hope this helps!

Can vary, dependin on the females in your family tree, all in genetics. Usually from 3-7 days, afterwards you can expect in a month if u dont get it in a month or so u can expect it in less than 6 months and that's because ur body is going through hormonal and chemical changes, it takes time. However is not a bad idea to holla at a doctor for a check up. Welcome to womanhood!

Hi! If it's your first period, it may only last a day or two , like mine. Your first few may be very short and irregular, and maybe not. It's different for everyone. OH...don't be afraid to ask Mom questions. The whole idea seems weird at the time, but you'd be surprised how reassuring that talk can be.
