In the most basic sense, the protaganist is the good guy and the antagonist is the bad guy. It can be more complicated but that is where you start! I hope that helps!

The protagonist isn't neccassarily the good guy, but the main character, the person who you root for throughout the novel, whether it's a super hero or an evil thief, or anything in between. Contrarily, the antagonist is the main person who has some sort of conflict against the protagonist, and again the antagonist's morality, good or bad, has nothing to do with whether or not he's an antagonist.

The antagonist is the person or situation that causes the problem.
The protagonist is the person or situation that solves the problem.
This is the simplest way to explain it. It can be more complex, but it you understand the basics, you can figure out the rest.

That is a subjective question. I believe Harrison is the protagonist and the US Handicapper General is the antgagonist - but the USHG would say it was the other way around. Vonnegut would agree with me.
