I have a cable modem on my downstairs computer. I want to set up my upstairs computer also for access, how would I easliy do that. I should mention I also have vonage phone system on this system.

If you can run a cable, check to see if your modem has a router built in (it will have extra network connections on the back). If so, just run one of those to your other PC.

If not, you need a wireless router and a wireless adapter for your second PC. The router will connect between your modem and your main PC. The wireless adapter can be either a PCI card or you can get a USB one.

With this WiFi setup, you can even get wireless phones for your Vonage.

What you want is a broadband router.
