To remove CD drives from your computer first open the cabinet
then in the upper half of the cabinet you find a 40 pin data cable connected to your CD drive unplug the data cable and along side the data cable you will find a power cord of four wire you unplug that and last but not the least remove the screws
and your job is done
and if there is any tiny wire connected to cd rom with the name audio unplugg that also

More then likely you will need to remove the side access panel, then the front face, there are two or three tabs on the inside near the front to release the front face. Afterwards, if the CD drives are help in place by a green plastic bar, there should be a release button or lift up tab on it that will unlock the drives, then just slide the drives forward. That is how the HP's I have worked on been constructed.

On some Hp pavilions the drives must be removed from the Front. In order to that you have to remove the front. There is 3 clip like locks on each side inside the case. You will need to remove both sides to access all the clips. When you have accomplished this then remove the wires and screws, slide them out the front.
