with 1 mth to go before time bar solicitor writes to tell you, they carried on negotiating and the other side have now admitted liability subject to causation proof & applied to court to go back on record and a further ext to prepare paperwork, my question is would you trust them or sack them

It sounds as though you've made a personal injury claim. If you think that you don't trust your solicitor then stop using them even if they're not at fault - you'll never be happy with them.

Find someone else, if you're bringing a PI claim then they'll happily take it over. My tip however is to actually phone some solicitors rather than a claims handling company. Check your local Yellow Pages.

I'd question my solicitor on exactly what he was doing and what his plan is. If he is anything less than brilliant, I'd sack him straight away. You pay a lot of money for a solicitor; a solicitor is in a position of the highest public trust. If you do not trust him, sack him!

The ethics of such action should be adduced from the Solicitor.
It could be that the paperwork was incomplete - incompetence.
More detail from the Plaintiff/Defendant is required - good practise, perhaps.
More information introduced by defence/prosecution - causative.
Delay is not always made on purpose, just to make extra fees warranted.
You always have The Law Society to adjudicate but they are paid for by the 'business'.
