After much debate my hubby and I settled on

Emma Anne for a girl

and

Noah Andrew for a boy.

We LOVE the name Emma Anne. (Anne is my middle name and Andrew is my husband's.)

But although we like Noah a lot we still have some reservations. It was a gut instinct and we know that you can never be sure of your names until the baby is in your arms. But what do you think? Would you stick with the first feeling on a name or would you pick another. If so what boy's name would it be?

Someone said Emma Anne is an "old sounding" name. You're right. It is really old fashioned but with purpose. Anne is my middle name and it's my husband's request that we give it to our daugther as well. Emma is a name that means a lot to us both as it was the name of the woman who insisted for a year we meet up, swearing up and down we were meant for each other. She was right. She died after being hit by a drunk driver while crossing the street about 7 months ago. She was 42 at the time.

I LOVE Emma Anne.... Emma is VERY cute and classy and not weird, and Anne is one of my favorite names for a girl
I also really like Noah Andrew.... Noah is a very nice name for a boy... it's traditional but not overused, which is good if you don't want your son to have 5 Noahs in his class... My name is Sarah and that's extremely common, I always have at least one other Sarah in my classes and it's a bit annoying....

p.s. I agree with you about the "old names"... old names are much better than weird made-up names that everyone seems to like so much.... and I don't like when people say they don't care for a name just because it's old, but then again I USUALLY dont like the "modern" ones... so I guess I have no room to talk. Anyway, those are GREAT choices! go for it! and if, after you have a son and you don't think he's a Noah, just choose another name you think suits him!

good luck!

Hold on to it for now, but keep an open mind. You might find out he feels more like a Gabriel than a Noah. Since you are choosing biblical names, try looking in the Bible Dictionary. It lists all the names of people in the bible and what they mean. Congratulations and I think Emma Anne is a lovely name. I have a little cousin named Sessilee.

My son was going to be named Emma Ann if he was a girl. I have ALWAYS loved the names Emily and Emma since I was a little girl. I cannot believe how popular they have become. We debated for months over using it because of the popularity and decided that since I loved it we should go with it.

Ann is my middle name, my mom's middle name (who passed away at 35 from cancer), and my grandmothers middle name (who raised us after my mom passed) SO it was a given that was going to be her name.

I was blessed with a little boy so we debated for months over nothing. :)

Anyway, for the little boy...if you are not sure than you might want to think of some others. My guess is that you are having a little girl. We didn't debate over the boy name we chose but debated over whether to use Emma and then had a boy. So many times this happens to people.

Anyway, names I think you may like are:
Nicholas Andrew (LOVE this name)
Ethan Andrew
Seth Andrew
Cameron Andrew
Aaron Andrew (I like the double A's with this name)
Zachary Andrew
Owen Andrew
Logan Andrew (really cute too)
Greyson Andrew

I tried to think of names that would sound nice together if you have another one later on. I love Emma and Nicholas, Emma and Owen, Emma and Aaron, Emma and Greyson....I love them all together! lol

Good Luck. Beautiful names. Can't go wrong with Emma Anne.

Take Care,
SD

I really like Noah Andrew or Andrew Noah. I don't particularly like Emma Anne because it's one of the most popular names and there's so many pretty girl names.

I like the name Emma Anne, especially with the meaning behind it.

Noah Andrew sounds nice as well, and I would say go with your gut instinct.

But if you'd like to keep your options open (and seem to like the traditional sounding names):
Nathan Andrew
Justin Andrew
Sean Andrew
Tyler Andrew
Isaiah Andrew

I like both of the names. I really like the name Noah for a boy, too cute!!! I like the name Emma Anne for a girl and who cares if it sounds "too old". "Old" names will be around forever, those trendy names wont be. Both names are strong and they mean something to you so go with them! Stick with your first instinct it sounds like you want to, I did, and both the names I picked out for my girls couldnt have suited them more perfectly!

I like Noah, I think it is a nice name. As you said, you will know whether the name fits when you see your baby, so it might be wise to have another name ready to go. Maybe you should reverse the names and have Andrew Noah?

I really like Emma Anne-very classic and feminine. I like Noah Andrew, but if you have doubts, then just wait until you see him and see if he looks like a Noah.
