Sounds like a backhanded compliment at best. Was it on an evaluation for your job or something? The reason I wonder that is that sometimes job performance evals have all these really weird categories & not only is the boss supposed to give a rating, but make comments as well. What other kind of positive comments can a person really make in a category such a "Written Communication"....anyway, I digress - depending on the source, yeah, take it as a compliment. It's really frightening how little regard people have for spelling things correctly these days.
