Start with something like Michelob Ultra or another lite beer (Miller Lite or Coors Lite are good). It really is an acquired taste...I just kept drinking it til finally I got used to it. I still don't crave it (which is a good thing right?) but it doesn't taste completely horrible now.

Begin by drinking it with food, and when you're very hot, tired, and thirsty. Beer is BEST during those times, and it will definitely help you acquire the taste. Also, make sure that you drink it very COLD. That helps too. Also.....different beers taste VERY different. Try several, and pick one that you like.

I recommend Natural Light or Miller Lite for beginners. Yeungling is a good amber beer. Killians Red is good also.

Some beers have a lot of Hops in them.....this gives them a bitter taste, and many beginners don't like that. Choose brands with less hops for a smoother, fresher taste.

When you adjust, and when you find the ones that you like, you'll LOVE the stuff!! Damn.....it's the nectar of the gods.

Don't TRY to acquire a taste for beer,... I know that it's cheaper, but maybe you can have one Crown & Coke then sip on a beer for an hour or so, then another C&C, etc. This'll at least PACE the evening and therefore not end so soon,.. at least as far as your recollection the next day.

Maybe one of the bottled Seagram's, Mike's Hard Lemonade, etc. type products would be a good compromise,..

Whatever you do,... just keep it in check and under control.

I would suggest try having it often, maybe not enough to get drunk but just like one beer. I went to Ireland a few years ago (I was over 18 but under 21) and noticed that at first Guiness was so strong, but I ended up having a pint or two everyday practically and just acquired the taste to the point that it was like water...

I'm like you. I can't stand the taste of beer. However, Smirnoff makes flavored beers, like cherry, lemon, raspberry, etc. They're pretty darn good. I also like the taste of Zima, which I believe is some sort of beer. Give those a try and see what you think. If you're trying to get a taste for regular beer, I don't think there is a way to do it. You simply like something or you don't. You can't fool your own tastebuds.

I don't know if you've tried this or not but try all different kinds of beer. There is more than 1 kind. I like budweiser select. My fiance loves coffee so he drinks Guiness Draught b/c it has a coffee taste to it, its a dark beer. Try to experiment, if not then just drink what you enjoy drinking...You only live once and you can't take your money with you when you die,

I can only laugh at the thought of "gagging" down beer because it is a cheap alternative to another alcohol. The need to get the intoxicated feeling being equally as great as the need to be thrifty is also equally amusing. Thanks for the good laugh. I am sorry I have no suggestions at how to acquire the taste.... I will say however; practice makes perfect; keep gaging down the beer and eventually you may acquire the taste for it.

I'm in the same situation, you will never like beer, I drink Jack and coke. I can't stand the taste of beer, I can take one sip and gag.

start with Blue Moon with a slice or orange in it. Freaking wonderful. Blue Moon is a Belgium White beer. Not Bitter. More like an Ice Tea with Fizz. One of the best beers ever.

It took me 4-5 years in college to acquire the taste. Good luck. Beer is great!
