According to astronomer's observations, there is not enough matter to stop the universe from expanding forever. There is however what is called the heat death of the universe. That is after trillions and trillions of years, the entire universe will all be at the same temperature. After that no work can be done because you have to have an difference in energy between two places to get energy to flow from one place to another. If we are still around at that time, let's hope that we have discovered how to move to a new universe.

There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

The only scientific answer is that no one knows. There is much speculation, and there is much evidence. Unfortunately, the evidence is too incomplete to be conclusive. Is the universe infinite in space? Is the universe infinite in time? These questions cannot be answered now.

only God can comprehend a universe with an ending. Human's, on the other hand, can't! Although our minds are limitless to the amount of information it can process, it is limited in what it knows about its surroundings!

to me, there always has to be "something", even if it is just empty space. What would limit the end of the universe? A rock wall? I think you eventually run out of galaxies, etc, but there HAS to be "something". Maybe I am too simple minded though to comprehend.....

it does when you get to the edge of it. but the universe is still expanding. so when you get to the edge of it,you won't be able to catch up with the expansion. so I would say that the universe never ends.
