Well, this may sound crazy, but it is true. Regular naps during the day promote peaceful sleeping at night. Try to only have your baby take a nap 2 times a day (or 3 if that works better) and only for an hour or so at a time. Get a feel for when your baby is STARTING to get sleepy... don't wait until he is overtired. Babies become overstimulated when they're overtired and won't sleep. Have a consistant nighttime routine... bathe him, massage with lotion, play soft music while nursing him, then lay down with him until he falls asleep. Make nightttime quiet, boring, and peaceful. Don't engage him with eye contact or talking while putting him to sleep.

Try to keep him up during the day, but do this slowly by adjusting it by and hour or two each day. Soon he'll be swapped over. You can also try giving him a nice warm bath at night. Johnson & Johnson have bedtime lotion, wash, and baby powder. It is great. I give this to my 6 month old and she sleeps a lot better. Even when she's asleep before 7:30 I wake her up and give her a bath and feed her. Good luck.

Lori, I have a 15 month old and let me tell you, he wears three adults out by the end of the day.....he's a tasmanian devil!!!
I suggest you DO NOT allow the baby to sleep during the day, except for naps...but schedule them such that he or she doesn't oversleep, this is what makes them active at night.
other than that, make an effort to keep them awake, tire them out...it usually takes about two to three days to get their rythms matched to yours....this doesn't include the feeding times at night..(mine still awakes three times, once at midnight, once at three and at six ocklock and he's running rampant all day, I am beat as is my wife!!!
With the baby's last bottle of the day (getting ready for sleep) add a bit of the baby oatmeal to the milk...this will thicken it a bit but
digesting will also make the baby tired...and want to sleep at night.
Do consult your pediatrician before commencing anything
Get family in on this new regiment for the baby, they are the key to your success!

Give him foods that increase seratonin to help him sleep such as bread. The foods listed below promote sleep,, but obviously you can't give all of these to a 10 month baby. Maybe milk with some bread. Try and give him a bath before he sleeps to calm him down. Good luck!
These are foods high in the sleep-inducing amino acid tryptophan:
Dairy products: cottage cheese, cheese, milk
Soy products: soy milk, tofu, soybean nuts
Seafood
Meats
Poultry
Whole grains
Beans
Rice
Hummus
Lentils
Hazelnuts, Peanuts
Eggs
Sesame seeds, sunflower seeds

Try to adjust his daily activities to be highly stimulating, while evenings could always have the same routine at scheduled times.End it with a bath, fresh jammies, and a supersized feeding so he may be better fit to sleep for a long period. It might help over a few days. It may not. In that situation, you may want to try to adjust your evening activities to be highly stimulating and drink tons of coffee all night long. Then you can at least have a great time enjoying your sweet baby's waking moments. Good luck!

Well at night you have too keep it quiet....no tv no talking, just a bottle and back to bed....keep him up and active and busy all day. Go to the park, limit naps one in the am , but then try to keep afternoon's short , give him a nice bath and them off to bed. It is hard but if you keep at it his internal clock will get on track. I know how hard this can be, my daughter didnt want to sleep all night untill she was about 11 months old...Good Luck

about half an hour before bed give him a nice warm bath and after rub him down with lotion, give him a baby massage. for a while you may need to keep him up until 11p.m. or later if you can play with him really hard to get him wore out for the night (wrestle or if he can walk run him around the house maybe even try giving him a small snack to just fill his stomach.try popcorn puffs. everyother night put him to bed a little earlier at night and keep track of his naps during the day at that age they really only need two naps one in the morning and one in the afternoon around 3. Good luck i hoe my advice works it worked for us

Waking him up could save the two one in all you some sleep. i won't be able to think of what could reason nightmares, or a midsection of the evening soreness-fest, the two. try shifting his mattress to a distinctive room in simple terms for a evening or 2. If he's fantastic in the different room, then there is something (who's acquainted with?) incorrect with the different room. try sound asleep in it your self and notice if it wakes you up. I even have heard of a difficulty the place this befell until now, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it replaced into weird and wonderful, so I won't share it with you at present. TX mom
