Leopard gecko...no question about it. I own one. It's my first gecko and I love them! They can live in a 10 gallon tank and they don't need to much. They will need a heat lamp and all the other accessories but nothing much. I had to pay for it by myself (I'm 14) and I can actually afford it. Leopard geckos are also known for their tameness. They are one of the most gentle lizards. Of course when its a baby, it will be crazy, will try to bite (no teeth) and will whip itself around. You can tame it but will tame very easily. You could handle if you can hold a tiny baby and not get scared if it bites or nething becuz if you drop them they will run and FAST! But I'm 14 and mine is 3 mnths. Shes great! You'd be pleased!

Go with the leopard gecko, they handle pretty easily and are pretty fun to watch. They are easy to take care of and not expensive at all to feed. You'll just need an under tank heater, substrate, and a few hides. Before you get the lizard make sure you do plenty of research before hand! I also suggest trying to adopt one if possible, since your only 16 this might save you some cash, that and it finds a lizard in need a new home.

I know this isnt a discussion forum, but I wanted to say do NOT get a bearded dragon if your looking for something that will live in a 10 gallon, that is way to small for them, and they are not cheap to take care of.

A leopard gecko can fit in a 10 gallon and they make good pets. You should adopt one, because there are tons of them that need homes.

Someone above said get a bearded dragon, even though they do make great pets they will need a 50-75 gallon tank. Do not get a chameleon or an Iguana there require a lot of special care. Iguanas get 7ft long and need 7' long x 5' wide x 7' tall cage. Chameleons shouldn't be handled, need flowing water and a pretty big cage.

I would invest in a bearded dragon and a large tank, like at least a 30gal breeder tank. There are few lizards that can live in a 10gal, and they mostly can not be held.... *coughANOLEScough*

So loook around and choose well. You'll need to get a lot of info, and a bigger tank if you want something to hold. I suggest getting a hamster or a snake for a 10gal.

I agree that a ten gallon tank is too small for a bearded dragon.

leopard geckos are a great choice but there are also crested geckos giant day geckos and golden geckos all of which are relatively simple to care for and can be housed in a ten g tank.

google for info and care sheets

get a leopard gecko. that seems like the best option because they are easy to maintain, friendly, and don't get very large (you won't need to get anything larger than a 10 gallon). i know that iguanas (especially) are often tempting to have as pets, but they get very large (4-6 feet long) and most people have to end up giving them away. yep, a leopard gecko seems like a great choice for you....here is some info on leopard geckos and care:

btw: i'm 16 too....

Leopard Gecko.
A 15 or 20 gallon is better, but they will do well in a 10 gallon.
Do lots of research. They are easy to keep, but have lots of special needs.
Good luck

just for the ten gallon definately get a crested gecko. one of the forgotten lizards, they are super cool, come in a variety of colors, and are very docile. but i would get a larger cage and get something larger like a beardie or a blue tongued skink.

I would get a bearded dragon. They are relatively inexpensive, come in a variety of colors, and are more friendly and sociable than other lizards, such as geckos. They eat crickets, mealworms, superworms, fruits, veggies, and a variety of other food items. I would definetly recommend them over other lizards because they are much more sociable.

I personally like bearded dragons. ive owned one for 8 years. they like bigger tanks though. i also like iguana's but they grow fast and need big cages when their older. i had geckos when i was little. geckos are pretty cool. they stay pretty small. they would like a 10 gallon tank.
