The idea was to get control of the world oil market as Bush senior did w. gulf war 1, which allowed for a pretty rosy 90's decade. There is no way of knowing what will happen if you pull out now, except that the puppet government that you installed won't last and their replacement for Saddam is unlikely to have American interests at heart!

Environmentalists wont let us drill in Alaska, and the US does not grow enough corn for Ethanol and feed the country.
Already the price of beer is going up as barley is used for ethanol and there is not enough barley for beer and ethanol.
The war is not about all about oil. But if we did have independence we wouldn't need to be there. Independence will need to be a combination of things. Ethanol is not the panacea. We need a combination of drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska as well as Ethanol to help reduce foreign demand.

hey bill, you missed out on the reason we are there to start with.
i believe dubya wanted to be one up on his old man.
we got the oil going to help the Iraq economy..we don't get any of it unless we buy it on the open market at the same price every one else pays. i think for our sacrifice, we should get all of it for free. at least until our soldiers are back home anyway..........
